PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – Spirent Federal Systems, the nations leader in global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) testing solutions, today announced the launch of the new GSS9000 Series GNSS Constellation Simulator. Providing enhanced capabilities, flexibility and performance, the new GSS9000 series has been significantly updated to meet the ever more demanding test needs of high-performance satellite navigation systems.
Spirent’s GSS9000 series already leads the market in multi-frequency, multi-GNSS RF constellation simulators, and is fully refined, integrated and qualified as a purpose-built solution. The newly enriched features and capabilities raise the bar still further for GNSS developers and testers.
The number of GNSS signals are growing and the receivers and systems we rely on every day will increasingly use all of these sources from different constellations to ensure ever-greater accuracy. It’s important that GNSS simulation testing today and in the future reflects the reality of real-world situations, where simultaneous generation and testing of all signals at once is vital.
The GSS9000 series addresses this need, with the increased capacity to produce a comprehensive range of emulated multi-GNSS, multi-frequency RF signals under all conditions, with unrivaled flexibility, coherence, fidelity, performance, accuracy and reliability. Boasting an increased channel count, the new GSS9000 now supports ten x 32-channels to provide 320 discrete channels in a single chassis. This improved capability allows support for simultaneous generation of signals from more than one constellation in a common frequency band.
The dedicated platform and software are designed from the ground up to work together, which means there is never any trade-off between capacity and performance. It provides full control and verification at maximum performance across all channels at all times – no matter how many channels you need to employ – so there is never a need to compromise your testing regime.
Greater signal flexibility is also built into the GSS9000, with its open API and flexible system architecture ensuring highly sophisticated arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) capabilities. It also provides unrivalled coverage and support for all current Signal-in-Signal Interface Control Documents (SIS ICDs), with even greater flexibility for both system and signal evolutions. This includes built-in and user-defined parameter controls and set up of non-current SIS ICD PRN codes, navigation data content, navigation data rate, chipping rate, edge shaping and modulation types.
Sophisticated spoofing test capability is also a feature of the GSS9000, with full parametreic control of multi-copy constellations, and trajectory/meaconing spoofing. Precise phase-aligned multi-gnss/multi-frequency signal wavefront and multi-antenna/output capability adds to this to provide the most capable anti-jam antenna testing on any simulator.
“The enhanced GSS9000 continues to support Y-code and M-code signal generation,” said Spirent Federal’s CEO, Ellen Hall. “Spirent Federal’s M-Code capability, SimMNSA, is the first to be granted Security Approval by the GPS Directorate, making Spirent unmatched in test simulation, providing those working in high-end GNSS technology and application development the very best testing solution.”
The GSS9000 series will be officially unveiled at ION GNSS+ 2019 in Miami, Florida (September 16 – 20), and for more information about the new GSS9000 series, visit www.spirentfederal.com/products/gss9000
